Cat in Garden

I was shooting the exterior of a real estate the other day, and came across this scene.

It was a very clear moment: I saw the cat did not realise my approach, I had the camera ready to shoot at hand, so I was sneaking until I got close enough to shoot with a wide angle lens, and I could take a few shots before the cat ran away.

I am still processing if this image is good or great, but now it feels like more than I am used to, so I guess it is at least above average (more so if viewed on a big screen which unfortunately is not possible here).

Whatever, there are a few things I realised while thinking about this image:

1.) The lens I normally use for enterieurs only (EF 17-40 f4 L) is actually quite good.

2.) Because I shot this image with a lens I kind of never take such images with, and used quite different settings (f-stop 8 vs. 1.4-2.0), I hate to say, but this image will never ever fit in any of my series.

3.)  Lighting has the greatest impact on image content and atmosphere, which is something I tend to repeat lately, while also an important statement, as it’s coming from a lens character maniac (me).

4.)This cat has at least two reasons to sit close to the bird feeder, face towards the sun…
