The Geisha

I realized I - again - neglected this blog for too long, and though I recently wasted way more ammo on soccer than art, I brought you the latter, as I just got the opportunity to shoot another sculpture by Kata (agostonkata.hu). On a ‘variations on a theme’ basis we had the geisha version of Busto Femminile by Umberto Fioravanti.

Looking for a rustic environment we ended up moving stuff and cleaning spiderwebs in the cellar, to build the temporary studio with three flashlights. As the sculpture forms a face, I tried to get a Rembrandt triangle with the main light, a fill light was necessary to get the background into exposure, and I put a third flash in front of the little window from outside to put a few sunbeams into the background.

In the end this shooting was a lot about climbing stairs, to take equipment down, adjust inside, adjust outside, shoot, and take everything up again, including the sculpture of course…

It feels like my lag day is done for the week, but I am - and more important: my client is - very happy with the results!
